About Sóller

Sóller, the village behind the Tramuntana mountains, far away from the party tourism, is a place to relax, enjoy sports activities and get to know the Majorcan life. The market square with the church of San Bartolomé, with its numerous cafés and restaurants, invites you to linger all day long and, together with the surrounding streets, hosts the market every Saturday. The streetcar to the port and the “Rayo Rojo” to Palma also depart from the immediate vicinity.

Mallorca is the jewel in the Mediterranean. A scenic dream, sensationally diverse and equipped with everything you need for a perfect vacation. The idyllic town of Sóller is located in the middle of the Tramuntana mountains, a World Heritage Site on the northwest coast, around 25 km from the capital Palma de Mallorca, with the harbor town of Port de Sóller just off the coast.

Sóller, a lively town in the heart of the Tramuntana, is characterized by historic town houses, traditional country estates and elegant villas. Sóller excelled in the international citrus trade in the 18th and 19th centuries. Oranges in particular thrived here, which is why Sóller is also known as the Vall de Naranjas, or Valley of Oranges. At the beginning of the 20th century, the construction of the train from Palma to Sóller was realized, “the Red Lightning”. Shortly afterwards, the traditional wooden streetcar followed, which runs from Sóller to the port and is always worth a trip!

Typical Sóller

Sóller’s cosmopolitan lifestyle has led to it becoming one of the country’s modernist highlights. It is also characterized by the fact that it is mainly local Mallorcans who live in the town and preserve the charm of Mallorca. Among the many houses and buildings in Art Nouveau style is the church of Sant Bartomeu in the town square.

It is an ideal location for hiking, cycling, mountain biking, climbing, swimming or visiting the historical museums and facilities, and Son Termens Golf Club is just a 20-minute drive away. The town has a fine selection of restaurants and bars and the local Saturday market is thriving.

The town celebrates popular annual festivals such as Es Firó and offers cultural events such as the Classical Music Festival in the port of Sóller.
